Asael Lambert LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Asael C. Lambert, Ph. D. 90, died in Los Angeles Friday, April 1, 1983. He was born March 9, 1893 at Kamas, Wasatch [sic] County. He married Florence Smith Ballif in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1914. She died in 1947. He later married Margaret Sayer Marr. His formal education included a bachelor of science degree in 1925 and a master of science degree in 1926 both at Brigham Young University. He earned his doctorate at Stanford in 1935. He was a dean, a professor of educational administration and director of ibraries at BYU until his resignation in 1951. He then served as executive dean and professor of educational administration at Los Angeles State College from 1951 to 1962. After retirement he returned to Utah and was director of the Utah Governor's School Studies committee from 1963 to 1964. He published more than 150 articles on public finance and taxation in scholarly journals. He spoke often at meetings concerning the necessity for academic competence and about Mormon history during his 40 active years in Utah. Survivors include his wife, Los Angeles; two sons and two daughters, James E. Lambert, Portland, Ore; Carlyle B. Lambert and Barbara L. Nielson, both of Provo; Ruth L. Roy, Coral Gables, Fla.; 20 grandchildrenn; ;37 great-grandchildren. A son, John Lambert and a daughter, Edith L. Nielsen preceded him in death. There will be no local funeral services. The family requests any memorial remembrance be made to the Richard Carlyle Lambert, M.D. Memorial Medical Scholarship Fund at University of Virginia in care of C.B.
