- Comments: Allen, Franklin took an ox team and four yoke of oxen to an Abigail Smith Brown from her husband, to assist her on her journey west in the spring. He also brought her $30.00 in cash from her husband.
Franklin, along with WArren Foote,bought the mill and house with five acres of land from Father Myers, and Franklin moved into the house. Warren Foote in his diary writes: Sept. 1848, the gristmill was located 8 miles from Kanesville, in Winter Quarters, Iowa.
