  • Notes

    • The Lambert Family News, Vol 2, No. 1, Rock Creek Illinois, Sunday, September 6, 1936:
      SUSANNAH MARTHA LAMBERT MAPES
      Sep 16, 1865 - April 22, 1904
Susannah Martha Mapes was born on the Lambert homestead. She attended the Lincoln public school, helped in the home and assisted members of her family in their homes as they needed her. She was married to Frank Mapes and they went to housekeeping on a farm near Ferris, Ill., where she became the mother of two boys and two girls.

In her youth, Susan was of a very cheerful disposition, later becoming more temperamental and becoming easily discouraged. She was a good worker, quick in action and speech, and insistent in things she thought right.

She spent her life, with exception of a few months in Oklahoma, in Illinois, not far from her girlhood home.
