LAMBERT, Dan, bishop of the Roosevelt Ward, Roosevelt Stake, Utah, from 1908 to 1911, was born March 2, 1861, in Salt Lake City, Utah, a son of John LAMBERT and Elina H. LARSEN. He was baptised 5 Sep 1878, ordained to the Priesthood, filled a mission to the Northeren States in 1893-1895, and was sustained a Bishop 20 Aug 1908.

Roosevelt is an outgrowth of the Duchesne Ward, which on Sep 10, 1907, was divided into three divisions to be known as the Roosevelt, the Indian Bench and the Hayden branches. Bishop Ephraim Lambert of the Duchesne Ward was given jurisdiction over the Roosevelt District. On Aug. 20, 1908, the Duchesne Ward was reorganized, Bishop Lambert being released as Bishop and Daniel [sic] Lambert appointed to preside as Bishop of the Roosevelt Ward, which embraced much of the territory formerly included in the Duchesne Ward. In 1911 Bishop Daniel [sic] Lambert was succeeded by Paul Soren Hansen, who in 1914 was succeeded by Joseph Heber Lambert...

A farewell reception was given Mr. D. Lambert in the afternoon of the 22nd to cheer his heart before starting on his mission to the Southern States. Friends and relatives were there to wish him luck, a happy return in the future, that his mission might be one of pleasure as well as of good and that all he undertakes to do, that is right, be fulfilled with many returns for his labor.

[Ioka] "The first post office was a mail route established in 1908 with Charles Percival as the first mail carrier. Her made the trip three times a week to Myton and back with a horse and buggy sometimes and other times he rode horseback.
" ... Postmasters in their order were: Dan Lambert ...
"Later another post office was established three miles east of the Lake Fork Post Office. This one was called "Ioka" and was located on the Dan Lambert homestead. Mrs. Lambert was postmistress... The Ioka Post Office operated until 1942..."
